Our restaurant is named after the Rock fort which is a historic fort and temple complex built on an ancient rock. It is located in the city of Tiruchirapalli, in Southern India. All our chefs hail from the same neighbourhood which had been the epicentre for the development of culture, food and tradition from historic times. The rock is said to be one of the oldest formations in the world. It is 3.8 billion years old, making it as old as the rocks in Greenland and older than the Himalayas. The nearby Kolli Hills, is a region known for growing a variety of spices like pepper, cardamom etc. besides coffee and tea. We bring to you the rich aroma and taste from this region to your doorstep. We are very proud to be one of the first restaurants to bring these unique flavours to Calgary.
The pillars of the Rock fort family – Arul, Prakash, Pugazh and Siva are all trained in multiple cuisines. We have been in Canada since 2005 and have worked in different restaurants, and it’s time to start our own. One of the key features of this restaurant is, we grind all the spices used in the kitchen from ground up everyday. We are also coming up with an open kitchen concept, where the diners will be able to interact with the chefs, as they make the food right in front of you, one of it’s kind for an East Indian restaurant, where you get to witness the preparation of your wonderful meal.
We are also bringing in some unique fun experience like the Boiler Chai, Street side style lassi, Aachi aappams, Indian ice creams, Andhra pesarattu and many more !
